ABOUT ME

About me

Welcome to Rising Fox Coaching. My name is Mike Findlay-Agnew. I am a professionally trained Transformational Coach offering support to people in their work and personal lives. My simple aim is to help you, as a client, realise what you are capable of.

Despite my lack of gray hairs, I have had a long career spanning almost 19-years working in Communications in both London and Scotland. I have supported organisations in the charity, education and cultural sectors raise their profiles and have, to an extent, been using a coaching approach to my work for many years.

I was introduced to the power of life coaching some years ago when I was living and working in London. At the time, I was new to my role as a manager within a complicated organisation. I was finding it hard to manage a team who were not achieving all that they could, and I was riddled in self-doubt about my role as a manager. Anyone heard of Imposter Syndrome?

A friend recommended a coach to me to work with. I was hesitant to begin with and wasn’t sure what coaching involved – was it like therapy? Was I going to be hypnotised and asked to join a cult? These were some of the questions I had, but luckily my mind was put at rest when I went to my first coaching session. The coach was down-to-earth and relatable. We worked together on and off for about 18-months, and the outcome was I found a renewed confidence and focus for my work.

Fast forward to 2020, and I decided to train as a professional coach with the Animas Centre for Coaching. I am now qualified with an ICF accredited Diploma in Transformational Coaching.

My training has allowed me to stretch my communication and people skills in a different direction. I love coaching and my passion is in using coaching conversations to allow people to realise their full potential.

My clients come from all backgrounds who are looking for support with all sorts of challenges - from mid-career professionals wanting to switch careers, people wanting to increase their confidence in and out of work, and those that are wanting to improve their relationships.

I am also happy to work with corporate clients/companies who are looking to use coaching to help employees achieve their potential. For example, I have supported the Academy of Medical Sciences in London in this way, and I am also part of the Leadership Academy at the charity Mary's Meals where I provide pro bono coaching work.

I am based in Glasgow, Scotland in the UK but through the power of digital, I can offer coaching to people from across the world.

My experience and qualifications include:

  • ICF Accredited Diploma in Transformational Coaching from the Animas Centre for Coaching
  • COSCA (Counselling & Psychotherapy in Scotland) Certificate in Counselling Skills, awarded by the University of Strathclyde
  • Member of the International Coaching Federation
  • Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts
  • Member of the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM)
  • Member of the Gay Coaches Alliance
  • PGCert (distinction) from the University of London; and BA(Hons) from the University of Stirling
  • 19-year career in communications working across social justice, third sector, education and the arts
  • Leadership experience as the Chair of a charity and a Non-Executive Director of a social enterprise
  • Freelance writer on mental health and equalities - you can view my portfolio at: www.mikefindlay.org.
